MARSHFIELD, Wis. — The Chestnut Center for the Arts is rolling out a busy March schedule that includes new exhibits, comedy, professional wrestling, classes and a food-focused fundraiser, according to Programming Director Edei Smazal.

The center’s new exhibit, “Beauty in the Everyday” by Mary Jo Fox, opens with a reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 6, and the show will run through April 23, Smazal said. The exhibit features watercolor and mixed-media works.
A separate fabric art exhibit featuring quilting, felting, silk fusion, rug hooking and crochet is also on display through March in multiple rooms at the center, she said.

The center also is launching a new Creatives and Coffee gathering on the second Wednesday of each month, beginning March 11. Smazal said the event is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with artists and art enthusiasts invited to bring work or discuss ideas.
Among the ticketed events, the Chestnut Center will host clean comedy night featuring Andy Benigno and Des Mulrooney on Friday, March 13. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, Smazal said.

The center also will host a Frontline Pro Wrestling event, “Call to Arms,” on Saturday, March 21. Smazal said the event is a fundraiser for Sweet Dreams of Wisconsin and follows a previous wrestling fundraiser that raised $700 for Special Olympics. Ticket prices are listed as $20 front row, $15 general admission, $10 for veterans and $5 for children 10 and under.

Later in the month, the center’s “Savor the Flavor for the Arts” fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will feature food samples from professional and amateur chefs, entertainment and a silent auction, Smazal said. Advance tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple, with door prices set at $40 per person and $70 per couple.

March classes include a four-week acrylic painting course beginning March 12, a felting penny runner class for teens and adults, a papier-mâché sculpture class and a locker hook basket class, Smazal said. The center also has two remaining Culinary Kids sessions on March 14 and March 28.
