MARSHFIELD, Wis. — Lois TeStrake signed off from her long-running community program “Coffee with the Mayor” this week, marking her final episode as she prepares to conclude her tenure leading the city.
In the farewell broadcast, TeStrake reflected on Marshfield’s strong sense of community while hosting local business leader Kim Heiman, whose family-owned dairy operation has become a staple of the region. The episode highlighted both the mayor’s commitment to showcasing local success stories and her broader message about civic pride.
“This is my last Coffee with the Mayor,” TeStrake said as she introduced her guest, emphasizing the importance of spotlighting residents and businesses that contribute to the city’s identity.
Throughout the conversation, TeStrake underscored what she views as Marshfield’s defining qualities: collaboration, local entrepreneurship and a supportive environment for families and businesses. She pointed to companies like Nasonville Dairy as examples of how community backing can help businesses grow from small operations into nationally recognized producers.
Heiman, who has lived in Marshfield since early childhood, credited the city’s residents and workforce for his company’s expansion into a major dairy operation producing award-winning cheeses. The business now processes millions of pounds of milk and distributes products across the United States and internationally.
TeStrake used the discussion to reiterate her long-held belief that Marshfield’s strength lies in its people.
“We have a great community,” she said, noting the generosity and engagement she has witnessed throughout her time in office.
The program, a regular feature during her tenure, served as a platform for highlighting local initiatives, businesses and residents. Each episode typically featured a community member whose work contributed to the city’s economic or cultural life.
As she closed the final broadcast, TeStrake thanked residents for their support and encouraged continued engagement in local efforts.
“Everyone have a great day and I’ll see you around,” she said in her sign-off.
TeStrake’s departure marks the end of an era for the community-focused program, which has been a consistent channel for connecting city leadership with residents. Her successor has not yet announced whether the series will continue under new leadership.
