City of Marshfield Approves Temporary FirstNet SatCOLT Placement to Support Public Safety Communications

From - Official City of Marshfield Communications

The City of Marshfield has authorized the temporary placement of a FirstNet SatCOLT, or Satellite Cell on Light Truck, on City-owned property near the Marshfield Fairgrounds to support public safety communications.

The SatCOLT will provide temporary support for eligible FirstNet users operating on Band 14. The unit is expected to remain in place for approximately 45 days until a longer-term solution is made operational. There is no cost to the City for this device.

This deployment is intended to support public safety communications for first responders and other eligible FirstNet public safety users. It is not intended to improve regular AT&T commercial or residential cellular service.

The City is allowing the temporary use of the property to help maintain reliable communication service for public safety operations. City staff have been working with FirstNet and other parties involved to coordinate the unit's placement, timing, and operational needs.

Residents may notice temporary equipment at the fairgrounds during the deployment period. The City appreciates the public’s understanding, as this temporary measure is used to support essential public safety communications.
